If anybody want to talk about WSR, talk to me. Only problem is I am not in the US now so time zone diffence may hinder our conversation. Anyway, I AM A FAN OF WSR GAME so let's start discussing.

I was excited to see a fan forum, but bummed that it is essentially unused. I thought there would have been a small, yet highly dedicated community! ;D

Yeah, it's tough getting things off the ground for the first time, but them's the breaks!
There are a couple of things that would greatly interest me:
1. A leader board of the top 10 (100?) scores, so I could easily determine whether or not there was a bunch of "stuff" that I still needed to discover about the game.
2. A way to play against some human opponents that "works", so I can begin to decide whether or not my strategy style is viable or not. I kick butt against the computer player, (Wimpy Raider), but that might not mean much...given that he is usually broke and out of the game by the time the first quarter ends, sigh!
FYI, my latest net assets were stuck in a range of between $1.5T and $3.0T last month. I got a better handle on the short selling feature of the game, and now my holdings have blossomed! I have no idea what the actual limit might be now, but there doesn't seem to be any particular reason to suppose that there IS any realistic one, other than that I have other things to do besides click mice all day, heheheh!
Anybody else want those two items?
Thanks!

Hey Scott,
I ran across your program last night while searching for a Finanical Business Simulation Game. Several of us completed a three day course with our company called BIZ WIZ. The idea was to help us better understand the financial side of business. We engaged in a board game style simulation that was very fun. I then started surfing to see what I could find on the internet that might be similar but turned up with nothing until I found Wall Street Raider. Although W$R does not go into the actual calculations like our class and board game did, it actually offers a whole lot more informative type of data that will certainly be helpful as my business acumen improves.
Thanks for you providing both a learning and entertaining environment.

Hi there everone. I have been playing this game for years now, and what a fantastic game! The only trouble I have is my investments pay off too early! The banks never have enough money (until i start one up) and my investments level off early in the game until the market starts to mature a little more. Normally within 3 years of starting (100m, level 3) I have trillions in the bank and the only investments worth making (for large returns) is the bond market. I do wonder if all by buying and selling on the bond market actually has some effect on the interst rate??? as often when selling and buying these bonds (in large amounts) causings the bond rates to swing (normally to my benefit). Has anyone else had the same effect?

Yeah, I have seen the bond phenomenon happen. I have 2 quintillion (2 with 18 zeros) . I had to start my own bank and moving all profits into that bank as a capital contribution. I then use that money to buy all 'A' and above bank loans and all bonds when appropriate. The game has actually flipped on some of the variables. When I get "Company XXX has lost $XXX.XX in an interest rate swap". It actually adds to my cash. Same if I take out bonds. The total goes to a negative in my liabilities column and when I call them they add money to my account.

I do agree with you there; needing a measuring stick to determine if there is any other strategies to learn from human(s) is essential. I would love to see not only the top 10, but a ranking of an overal community for Wall$treet Raider...I like competition! Is it possible to display other peoples ranks here on the forum?

Unfortunately for me, when playing early in the game I find the market not very mature thus limiting the capital gains once can obtain. I find the bond market more appropriate for large scale profits, however, turning back towards company investing when there is more of a "money train" happening. Dont get me wrong tho, I do invest in compaines to reinstate consolidated tax...as this dramatically improves reported income of my parent company. Reducing tax with different techniques only seems to improve reported income of about 16-20%....not enough when I am greedy ;D Yeah, I have seen the bond phenomenon happen. What would be cool is if they allowed players to start at different years. Like in the 50s, 60s, 80s, 90s, 00s and have different economic impacts of the year they choose to start in.

I was a bit startled when I came back to this forum today. ;D
I started this post so long ago and have not visited it since last year. Today, I finally bought the software and followed a link from the software back to where I was a year ago.
Welcome back (me, myself) and Hello all the other members.
